Only the "keepers"

Rich White Sugar Cookies

Mary Lechasseur says that her Grandmother Mary "Mae" Jones from Knowlton's Landing Québec made these as did Aunt Daisy. And that she's named after her Grandmother Jones.

Ingredients: 

1 cup shortening or butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beat all well
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda dissovled in 1 tbsp of hot water
2 tsp cream of tartar sifted with
2½ cups flour approximately
optionally add 2 tsp to 1 tbsp caraway seeds

Method: 

Roll thin. Bake 325° to 350° oven 8-10 minutes.
Can be sprinked with sugar before baking, or optionally add some currants.
